The body of Mohd Naim Adnan, the first victim swept away by strong currents while swimming at Pantai Rhu Sepuluh Setiu in Terengganu was found today at 11.50am by rescue personnel from the Diving Rescue Unit.

Setiu District Superintendent Elias Abu Bakar said the discovery was made after the rescue personnel spotted a floating object on the surface of the sea about one ilometre from the site.

Due to fierce currents, the body had to be brought to the Kuala Merang jetty before it was sent to Setiu Hospital in Terengganu for post-mortem.

“We are still searching for another victim and will enlist the assistance from the Fire and Rescue Department, marine police and the maritime,” said Elias.

The search mission which involves 60 personnel including the police and villagers is responsible to retrieve another body identified as Mohd Wafiq Mohd Nor, 17/

“The search mission has been intensified,” he said, adding that the mission will be expedited.

Mohd Naim, a student of Sekolah Menengah Datuk Seth who was accompanied by Mohd Wafiq of Batu Pahat Science School in Johor, was swept away by strong currents.

The victim along with six other friends from Batu Pahat, Johor had disappeared while swimming at about 9am on Monday.
