The worsening haze situation in the country has been attributed to the wind movements from the Philippines.

Meterological Department officer Dr Mohd Hisham Mohd Anip said, a typhoon that is moving across the Philippines had caused the winds to change direction, blowing the haze from Indonesia to Malaysia.

“This is something we had not expected,” he told Astro AWANI when contacted on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Department of Environment (DOE) has urged the public to monitor the Air Pollutant Index (API) reading on its website to get the latest updates on the haze situation in the country.
