Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam on Monday had offered his condolences to the family of late Khairul Anuar Che Ramli, 33, who died on Sunday due to dengue.

He called on all Malaysians to play their roles in eradicating the menace.

"I was told that a staff of Astro AWANI had died recently due to dengue and I offer my condolences to his family,” he said.

Khairul Anuar, better known as Samson, who began working at Astro AWANI since 2006, left behind wife Zamila Razeman, 27 and a son, 1.

Dr Subramaniam also said that there has been 38 cases of deaths due to dengue reported nationwide in the first two months this year.

There were only eight cases of death due to dengue in the same period, last year.

He also said that from Jan until Feb 28, a total of 18,047 dengue cases were reported nationwide
while for the same period last year, a total of 4,259 cases were reported.

He said concerns are rising over dengue cases in the country and said that the menace can only be eradicated with cooperation from all parties by playing their roles.
