A 41-year-old man being held under remand over an investigation into a drug-related case died yesterday, police said today.

Penang CID chief SAC Mazlan Kesah said the man was found unconscious in the quarantine room of the Penang Remand Prison at 12.55 pm and died on the way to the Penang Hospital.

The man died in the ambulance that was rushing him to the hospital, he said, adding that he was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty at the Emergency Department of the hospital.

Mazlan said the man had been under remand since April 4 over a drug-related case.

He said the cause of death had yet to be determined and that there were no injuries on the body.
