To date, no Malaysians were reportedly involved in the attack in Dhaka on Friday which saw a group of armed men storming a cafe in the Bangladeshi capital and held hostage more than 20 people of various nationalities.

According to a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry today, Malaysia strongly condemns the attack which also killed three local police personnel and wounded more than 30 others.

"Malaysia also expressed sympathy to the Government and people of Bangladesh and hoped that those responsible are brought to justice," the statement said.

The Malaysian High Commission will also continue to monitor further developments in the attack.
