KUALA LUMPUR: Residents in coastal areas are advised to be on alert to the extreme high tide phenomenon that is expected to occur from today until Sunday.

In a post on its Facebook, the National Hydrographic Center (PHN) stated that the phenomenon could cause water overflow in land areas which in turn could result in flooding in localities in low coastal areas.

PHN also advises the public to constantly monitor the current weather conditions and refer to the relevant agencies for coastal area safety information.

"Residents near the coast are advised to be more alert and vigilant in the face of this phenomenon. Please monitor the current weather conditions and consult the relevant agencies for coastal area safety information," it said.
