The two foreign workers who were injured in the incident where a concrete ramp under construction on the Second Penang Bridge in Batu Maung near here collapsed yesterday, are in stable condition and still receiving treatment at the Penang Hospital.

Myanmar national Tin Maung Lwin, 39, and Indonesian, Selamat, 36, escaped serious injury.

Tin, who was injured in his right thigh, said when the incident occurred, he was doing construction work on the bridge.

"At that moment, I was pouring cement before it (ramp) collapsed," he told reporters when met at the hospital here today.

Selamat was unable to talk as his mouth was swollen.He was injured in the face and chest.

The interchange ramp of the Penang Second Bridge which is under construction at Lebuhraya Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu, here, collapsed at about 7.15pm yesterday claimed one life and hurt three people, the other being a local woman, Thilasheni Rajendran, 24, who was hit by falling debris on the hand.
