A group of foreigners ambushed two patrolling policemen in Taman Sentosa, Tuesday, stabbing one of them to death and injuring the other, said Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar.

He also said that the injured policeman managed to shoot dead two of their attackers.

The policeman who was killed in the incident has been identified as Corporal Raja Aizam Raja Mohd, 53. He died while being rushed to the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital here.

The other policeman is Corporal Mohd Aidil Mustafa, 29, who has been admitted to the same hospital.

Khalid said the attack took place at about 5 am when Raja Aizam and Mohd Aidil, from the South Klang District Police headquarters, were on patrol along Lorong Yusuf Shahbudin 44D in the housing estate.

Raja Aizam was stabbed during the ambush while Mohd Aidil was slashed in the face, he told reporters after paying his last respects to Raja Aizam at the hospital.

It was learnt that during the struggle, the attackers seized Raja Aizam's pistol and attempted to shoot Mohd Aidil with it but the firearm jammed.

Mohd Aidil managed to seize the weapon and shot two of the attackers.

A knife was found near where Raja Aizam had collapsed at the scene.

A forensics team from the Selangor Police headquarters conducted an investigation at the scene.

Khalid described the ambush as an extreme and outrageous act.
