The government will continue to explain the Goods and Services Tax (GST) to make the people understand and not be confused by the new tax system.

Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Ahmad Maslan said the ministry will review the effectiveness of government efforts via advertising and publicity in the print and electronic media before continuing the briefing session.

"The Umno machinery at divisions must go down to the grassroots to brief the people on the GST as not many are doing this.

"I want to see the effects of advertising in newspapers, radio, television, billboards and highways," he told reporters after the National Economic Empowerment Seminar (Pena), here Saturday.

The people can obtain information on GST via www.gst.customs.gov.my and the 1300-88-500 hotline while the Customs Department provides FAQ (Frequently Ask Questions).

Fifteen Pena seminars have been lined-up nationwide to explain the GST, Bumiputera economy, and Budget 2014.
