Early voting started for the by-election for the Kajang state seat today involving total of 1,197 police personnel and their spouses.

The voting process, from 8am until 5pm, was carried out at the Dewan Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah, Maktab Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM), Dewan Anjung Forensik PDRM and Rumah Perkep, Ibu Pejabat Polis Daerah (IPPD) Kajang.

The indelible ink was still used for the Kajang by-election as was done in two previous by-elections for the Kuala Besut seat in Terengganu and Sungai Limau in Kedah.

The Kajang by-election was being held following the resignation of the Kajang State Assemblyman, Lee Chin Cheh from Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) effective on Jan 27, 2014.

The by-election will be a straight fight between two women, namely Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun representing the Barisan Nasional and PKR candidate Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail who is also the party president.

The Election Commission (EC) has fixed March 23 as polling day for the 38,081 normal voters.
