The Kelantan Umno Liaison Committee will submit general election petitions for the Bachok parliamentary and three state seats soon.

Its chairman Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed said priority would be given to the Bachok seat and the Jelawat state seat wherein both BN candidates lost by a small majority and damaged votes in the high numbers.

"For other areas, involving the Gaal state seat and state seats in the Kuala Krai parliamentary constituency, we will submit petitions after getting the views of the grassroots," he told reporters after attending a people's gathering in Kampung Bendang, here, yesterday.

Mustapa said this when commenting on the announcement by the Election Commission recently that petitions could be submitted within 21 days of the gazetting of the GE results (done on May 22).

Mustafa, who is also Minister of International Trade and Industry, said the candidate for the Bachok seat Datuk Dr Awang Adek Hussin only lost by 201 votes to PAS candidate Ahmad Marzuk Shaary while there were 946 damaged votes.
