KUCHING: The 27th edition of the Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF) will be making its return with the theme 'Evolution' from June 28 to 30 at the Sarawak Cultural Village.

Sarawak's Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said Grammy and Golden Globe award-winning legendary artist, Kitaro is among those that had been lined up to perform in this year's festival.

"Renowned for his groundbreaking electronic-instrumental music, Kitaro promises to be a mesmerising experience, marking his first appearance at our festival.

"Kitaro is often regarded as one of the most prominent musical acts of new-age music. He plays about 50 instruments and has a vast collection of traditional instruments from all over the world," he said in a press conference after the launch of RWMF 2024 here, today.

Apart from Kitaro, headlining at the RWMF this year is Datuk Zainal Abidin, known for his hit song 'Hijau' which has been around for over three decades.

Abdul Karim said ticket options for RWMF 2024 cater to every enthusiast, from the coveted 3-day pass priced at RM635 for adults, granting access to the entire weekend of festivities, to the 1-day pass for adults offering early bird pricing at RM235, pre-sale at RM283, and door sale at RM333.

"Children aged 3 to 12 can join in the excitement with a 1-day pass priced at RM80, while admission is free for children below 3 years old," he said.

A total of 20 acts made up of 68 international musicians from 14 countries together with 63 Malaysian artists will perform at RWMF 2024.
