A man has been arrested for allegedly causing fire at a parking lot near the Taman Jaya LRT station near Petaling Jaya on Monday.

Petaling Jaya police chief ACP Mohd Zani Che Din said the suspect, in his late 20s, would be charged in court today.

Initial investigations showed that a motorcyclist threw a bottle containing petrol towards the back seat of a car parked at the parking lot causing several other cars to catch fire.

A woman and a man both in their 20s’ who were in the car however managed to escape.

According to Mohd Zani, the woman who knew the suspect were both going through marital problems and divorce proceedings.

A car was set ablaze at the parking lot near Taman Jaya on Monday, resulting in the fire spreading to six other nearby cars.

The incident involved a Toyota Vios and Proton Wira which were fully destroyed in the fire while a Suzuki Swift had 80 per cent of burns.
