KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia registered another 1,552 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday (Sept 27), taking the overall total number of infections in the country to 4,834,560 cases so far.

Based on the data from the COVIDNOW portal, 1,547 of the new COVID-19 infections were local cases, while five were imported cases.

Kuala Lumpur continues to report with the most number of cases with 387, followed by Selangor (323), Sabah (164), Perak (119). 

Other states that recorded with a two-digit mark were, Sarawak (94), Penang (76), Negeri Sembilan (68), Kelantan (65), Kedah (64), Johor (55), Malacca (54), Pahang (34), Terengganu (22), Putrajaya (16), while Labuan had eight cases and Perlis reported three infections. 

According to the Ministry of Health (MOH), a total of 1,684 patients recovered and were discharged yesterday. 

MOH said there are 1,096 COVID-19 patients who are hospitalised, of which 46 are in the intensive care unit (ICU).

Meanwhile, a total of six COVID-related deaths were recorded on Tuesday with 1 confirmed as being brought in dead.

Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, the country has lost a total of 36,363 people to COVID-19 virus.
