The police have recorded statements rom Kijal state assemblyman Datuk Seri Ahmad Said to assist in the investigation of violating the Movement Control Order (MCO).

In confirming this, Terengganu Police Chief Datuk Roslee Chik said the evidence from some of the volunteers who were allegedly with the former Terengganu Menteri Besar at the time of the incident were also recorded.

"Evidence from all of them were taken on Monday," he said when contacted.

The police began conducting an investigation following a picture of Ahmad and Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar along with several other men at the home of the Kijal assemblyman went viral on social media sites for allegedly not practising social distancing as required under the MCO.

On Sunday, police had recorded evidence from Ahmad Samsuri at the Terengganu Contingent Police Headquarters (IPK).

Meanwhile, Ahmad hoped the people would not punish the volunteers as they were willing to work without any allowance to ensure that the community did not lose supply of kitchen necessities in the area.

He also invited the individual who made the report to accompany his volunteers to help distribute the donations to the residents.

"What we did was not intentional. We can’t be sending aid to 500 or 600 homes using only two or three people,” he said.
