Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on Tuesday launched the Report Card on Performance of Bumiputera Economic Empowerment 2015 issued by the Bumiputera Agenda Steering Unit (Teraju) which has achieved positive impact.

The programme succeeded in giving impact on value creation exceeding RM60 billion in various aspects including providing business opportunities, financing, human capital development and private investment.

The achievement outlined the government's contribution to the Bumiputera community through selected agencies in the five main thrusts outlined under the Bumiputera Economic Empowerment Programs.

At the event, Teraju Chief Executive Officer Datuk Husni Salleh and International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed handed the report to Najib, who is also UMNO President.

The handing over took place before the Presidential briefing to the UMNO delegates on Tuesday in conjunction with the 2015 UMNO General Assembly.

Teraju, which was set up in 2011, is a strategic unit in the Prime Minister's Department which acts as a facilitator on business matters, investment mobiliser, development catalyst, policy planning and main coordinator in driving Bumiputera participation in the country's economy.

The achievements of the various initiatives implemented included 11 successful companies which were listed on Bursa Malaysia and two companies listed in the 'billionaire' club.

Earlier, Najib handed over the official instruments to the state representatives for the organisation of the 2016 UMNO Sports Carnival in conjunction with the 70th anniversary celebration of the party next year.
