Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said he was saddened by the lives lost in the suicide bombing in Istanbul.

"Sad to hear about the murders in Istanbul by a Daesh suicide bomber," he said on his Twitter and Facebook accounts.



It was reported that the Tuesday's blast at the Sultanahmet Square, close to major tourist attractions, killed at least 10 people and wounding 15 others.

Najib said the incident showed that the fight against extremism should always be a priority.

"Another reminder of the need to combat extremism, wherever it may be," he said of the explosion.

Reports out of Turkey said that the attack was carried out by a foreigner affiliated with who was a member of the Daesh terror group that has embedded itself in Syria and Iraq.
