Police have arrested ninemen includinga local man believed to be members of a robbery syndicate after one of the member was shot dead by the police Thursday.

Johor Criminal Investigation Department chief Datuk Kamarul Zaman Mamat said all of them, aged between 22 and 46, were arrested in a house in Skudai, here about 2.30pm Thursday an hour after the shootout incident.

Kamarul Zaman said hewas learntthat the house had been used as a place for the suspects to stay, meet up and plan criminal activity.

All of them were remanded for four days until June 20 to facilitate investigations.

In the 1.45pm incident Thursday, police shot dead a male foreign national robber while his two accomplices managed toescapedinto the nearby jungle, at the Jalan Ulu Choh-Pontian junction here.

"However, the two suspects who fled in yesterday's incident have yet to be arrested," said Kamarul Zaman.
