Despite emerging reports that Russian investigators will be joining the team investigating the MH17 tragedy, Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said there have been no talks over the matter.

He said they have not made any contact with the Russian investigators.

However, he said the decision for the Russian investigators to join the MH17 investigating team, has to be made by the joint task force formed to secure the MH17 crash site.

"If the joint task force agrees to their presence, we will agree too," he told Astro AWANI in an exclusive interview from Kiev.

The five-nation task force, consisting of the Netherlands, Australia, Britain, Germany and Malaysia, was formed following the tragedy to secure the MH17 crash site.

The task force was formed with the help of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).

Flight MH17, which was carrying 283 passengers and 15 crew members, was allegedly shot down by separatists in the Donetsk region in eastern Ukraine, while on its way from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur on July 17.
