PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) said only a minimum of RM50 top-up is allowed at the Penang Bridge reload lanes.

In a statement issued Thursday the company said, the move is being implemented after a thorough study carried out on the Penang Bridge found that long queues at these reload lanes affected the traffic flow at other electronic lanes.

As such, it said, the move was made in a bid to reduce the frequency of users reloading their cards at the reload lanes on the Penang Bridge.

“The move will not affect reloads at the existing motorcycle reload lanes as they can still top-up their cards from as low as RM5,” the statement read.

The public can also top-up their cards from as low as RM10 (without additional charges) at PLUS Customer Service Centres at the Penang Bridge Toll Plaza office building, Juru, Sungai Dua on the North-South Expressway (NSE) or Kubang Semang on the Butterworth-Kulim Expressway (BKE).

“Other than reload lanes on the Penang Bridge, the public can also top-up their electronic cards at more than 580 reload locations around Penang such as Automated Teller Machines (ATM), petrol stations, 24-hours convenience stores, selected hypermarkets and so on,” PLUS Managing Director, Datuk Noorizah Abd Hamid explained.

PLUS had earlier implemented a full electronic toll transaction initiative at five toll plazas in the north consisting of the Penang Bridge, Bukit Kayu Hitam, Jitra, Kubang Semang and Lunas Toll Plazas since Sept 9, 2015.
