Police have detained the stepmother of the three-year-old boy who was abused by his stepfather, about
10 pm yesterday at Taman Meru Indah, Klang, following a video clip of the incident going viral on Facebook.

Selangor Criminal Investigations Department deputy chief ACP Rusdi Md Isa said the woman was released after her statement was recorded.

"We detained the 20-year-old woman, who was there at the time and recorded the incident," he said during a press conference ay the Selangor police head quarters, today.

He said a statement was also recorded from the victim's mother, 29, who appeared to be the suspect's common law wife.

So far four statements have been recorded to facilitate the case, including from a neighbour and a doctor, he added.

He said the abuse was believed to have taken place two months ago and that the video clip went viral on Facebook on Tuesday.

Yesterday, police arrested the victim's stepfather, 32, from his house in Taman Mas, Kapar, here after receiving a report from an individual who knew the suspect from the video clip.

The boy was sent to the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital here for treatment of injuries and placed under the Social Welfare Department.

The eight minute video clip showed a man in a blue shirt and jeans beating, kicking and hurling a boy who was sobbing uncontrollably.

It also showed another child and a baby.
