Police busted three syndicates believed to be involved in drug trafficking and smuggling, with the arrest of six suspects during a raid at a hotel car park in Jalan Ampang.

Cheras police chief ACP Mohan Singh Tara Singh said police also seized various types of drugs including 5.143 kgs of syabu and 20 ecstasy pills, estimated at RM1.02 million.

He said the arrests were based on public tip-off as well as intelligence by the Cheras police Narcotics CID.

In the first case at 1.50pm, police caught two suspects, a man with permanent residence status and a foreign woman, at the hotel car park," he told a media conference.

"We seized a backpack containing drugs, believed to be syabu, estimated at 3.250 kg from the man's car," he said.

Minutes later, police detained another local man and a foreign woman at the same place and seized drugs believed to be syabu and RM19,365 in cash, as well as three eramine 5 pills from the man.

The last two suspects, a local man and foreign woman were arrested from one of the hotel rooms at 2.56pm, he added.

Four plastic bags believed to contain syabu, 'WY', ecstasy and eramine pills, and a plastic packet which appeared to contain Ketamine were found in the room," he said.

"We believe all those detained, in their 20s to 40s, are linked to one another," he said.
