KLANG: Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah received the Darjah Kerabat Yang Amat Dihormati (D.K.), which is the highest award conferred by Selangor royalty, from Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.

The award was in conjunction with the Sultan of Selangor's 78th birthday on Dec 11.

Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah was also present to witness the special ceremony, which started at 11.30 am, at Balairung Seri, Istana Alam Shah here today.

Also in attendance were the Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin; Regent of Pahang Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah; and Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah.

The royal title was created in 1961 and is conferred on Malaysian royalty as well as foreign royalty as a mark of respect and close friendship with the Sultan of Selangor.

On Monda (Dec 11), a total of 96 individuals received various royal awards in conjunction with the Sultan of Selangor's birthday.
