KAJANG: The 51st edition of the International Children's Exhibition of Fine Arts (ICEFA) Lidice has brought great excitement to Rafflesia International School, as two Malaysian students from the school, Chok Yawen (Year 7) and Lim Wei Ting (Year 8), have been awarded Honourable Mentions.

Their remarkable achievements have put Malaysia on the global artistic map and brought pride to the Rafflesia International School community.

Among 16,416 entries received from 83 countries worldwide, Yawen and Wei Ting rose to the occasion and secured Honourable Mentions in the prestigious ICEFA Lidice, themed "Dance."

Under the guidance of Mr. Cesar Thomas Coronado, eight students from Rafflesia International School were briefed on the competition requirements and criteria.

Yawen expressed her joy, stating, "I am very glad that I am able to promote our traditional dance, 'Tarian Buluh,' to people beyond our shores."

Wei Ting shared her excitement, saying, "It is so thrilling to bring Malaysia to the eyes of the world! I'm glad to be able to promote our traditional culture using modern art."

Ms. Lisa Yoon Sook Fun, the Principal, commented, "Exposing the students to international competitions, especially when it's for a noble cause, helps bring out the attributes that encourage our students to be a better and positive influence on society."

Datin Teh Siew Lan, the Group CEO, affirmed the school's commitment to nurturing future leaders who are caring and peace-loving, stating, "The time to start nurturing them is now."

Established in 1967 to commemorate the child victims from the Czech village of Lidice who perished during the Nazi's reign of terror, the event serves as a haunting reminder of the fragility of peace and human lives.

It reminds humanity of its responsibility to preserve them, a responsibility that rests upon the curator of ICEFA Lidice based in the Czech and Slovak Republic, as well as all parents and educators worldwide.
