Sabah’s oldest music record and distribution company,SkylaserEnterprise Sdn Bhdisnow a fully Bumiputera-owned company.

After being in business for 30 years, the company Saturday changed ownership between its founder and former owner, Edward Seah and new proprietor, Datuk Verdon Bahanda.

"We will continue to work with old and current actors, singers and songwriters from Sabah, and give opportunities to the younger generation to develop and market their creative talents," said Verdon at a press conference here.

He also saidSkylaserEnterprise would no longer focus on music album andtelemovieproduction in a single genre or language, but target to expand to markets abroad by developing work in English and Mandarin languages within two years.

He also called on government agencies andprivate sectorto step up measures in combating the sale of pirated work of artists in the state and urged the community to buy only genuine products to ensure the livelihood of artists.

Verdon also announced Sabah and Sarawak Creative Industry Advisor of the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS), Datuk Deddy M Borhan, as the company's creative advisor.
