Tourism and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz said it is safe for international tourists to visit Sabah.

He said he has full confidence in the control of security by the Eastern Sabah Security Command (ESSCom) and thus the Land Below The Wind is safe for international tourists.

"Security for international tourists in Sabah is assured," he told reporters after opening the 1M Voluntourism Plant A Tree Programme under the National Blue Ocean Strategy (NBOS) here.

According to Nazri, he had earlier brought the Chinese Ambassador to Malaysia to visit Sabah east coast and the envoy's reaction was that the state was safe for tourists.

"He acknowledged the situation is safe," Nazri added.

Meanwhile, Nazri said his ministry would also be organising visits for other ambassadors in stages for them to obtain first hand observation at the situation in the state.

"I will also be going to other countries to clarify the situation...I will invite the ambassadors to look at the situation for themselves," he said.

Meanwhile State Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun who concurred with Nazri said all east coast resorts in Sabah were fully booked by foreign tourists.

He said this was proof the state was safe for tourists.
