The National Parent-Teacher Associations Consultative Council (PIBGN) has proposed that the Education Ministry
standardises the orientation session date for Year One students.

Its president, Prof Datuk Dr Mohamad Ali Hassan said this was to enable parents to plan and make necessary arrangements ahead of the session.

"The ministry can fix on a date or a specific period for the orientation session so that parents can plan their family holidays and prepare the budget," he said when contacted by Bernama here today.

Yesterday, a check by Bernama found that schools had different orientation dates with some having the session before the last term holidays while others organised it a week before the start of the 2016 session.

Mohamad said he also received several complaints from parents who claimed the school only informed them at the last moment by mail.

School session in Kedah, Terengganu, Kelantan and Johor will start on Jan 3 while other states will begin on Jan 4.
