SHAH ALAM: Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari won the Sungai Tua seat for the fourth straight time in the state polls today.

Amirudin from Pakatan Harapan won by a majority of 5,185 votes in a three-cornered fight, beating Perikatan Nasional's (PN) Muhammad Hanif Jamaluddin and independent candidate Suman Gopal.

Based on results released by the Election Commission (EC) tonight, Amirudin obtained 19,678 votes while Muhammad Hanif garnered 14,493 votes and independent candidate Suman Gopal got only 430 votes.

In the 14th general election, Amirudin successfully defended the seat with a majority of 11,374 votes, polling 17,446 votes to defeat N. Rawisandran of Barisan Nasional, Mohammad Ibrahim of PAS and independent candidate Badrul Hisam Md Zin.

Amirudin first won the seat in the 2008 general elections.
