Astro 'On The Go' (AOTG) is receiving warm response from Malaysians living abroad, especially students as the new offering can help them keep abreast with local issues.

Among the most awaited local content includes the upcoming coverage of the 13th General Election as well as the sports scene here.

A final year student of Melbourne University, Sharifah Alia Al-Sagoff, said that the service would bring students outstation closer to their home country.

“I think it’s good as it gives students a platform to connect with news and whatever that is happening in Malaysia, especially since our country is facing the general election soon. I think it is something very good to expose our young people studying overseas,” said Sharifah Alia.

For Raymond Loh, a Monash University student, it is the best platform to catch up with the latest developments back home.

“We sometimes miss our home land. So this AOTG is the best platform for us to find out what is happening in Malaysia. I love watching the news and sports. AOTG gives us that direct access, it’s awesome.”

As for Shun Wei Ch’ng, he said that he is glad he is able to watch and support his favourite athletes live through AOTG on a portable device.

Astro laucnhed its AOTG services in Melbourne, Asutralia on Sunday.

There are close to 150,000 Malaysians staying and studying there, with 70,000 of those in Melbourne itself.
