The hearse carrying the remains of His Royal Highness was carried by a Defence Ministry vehicle from the National Heart Institute, Kuala Lumpur accompanied by the Raja Permaisuri of Perak Tuanku Bainun and members of the Perak royal family.
On had to receive them were the Regent of Perak Raja Dr Nazrin Shah and Raja Puan Besar of Perak Tuanku Zara Salim.
Raja Dihilir of Perak Raja Jaafar Raja Muda Musa and Raja Puan Muda of Perak Raja Normahani Shahar Shah arrived at the palace at 9.15 pm.
30 students from Ma'ahad Tahfiz of the State Mosque performed the tahlil prayer and recited the Yassin at the throne room of the Istana Iskandariah.
The main road leading to the Istana Iskandariah in Bukit Chandan at the Kuala Kangsar Clock Tower roundabout is closed to traffic except for vehicles ferrying members of the royal family and dignitaries to the palace.
Sultan Azlan Shah passed away at 1.30 pm today at the age of 86.
His Royal Highness will be buried at the Kuala Kangsar Royal Mausoleum here after the Asar prayers tomorrow.
