MK Land Holdings Berhad chairman Tan Sri Mustapha Kamal Abu Bakar says he aims to make Taman Tasik Bukit Merah in Perak an education hub in the north of the peninsula.

He said the hub would cater to children from rural areas so that they could pursue cost-effective tertiary education.

"I want these children to be given a chance to build a better future and we will provide the platform to do so,"

he told reporters after attending a ceremony to celebrate the excellent achievements of 14 students of Bukit Merah Laketown Institute of Health Sciences (BMLIAHS) in the Peperiksaan Pendaftaran Lembaga Jururawat Malaysia examination, here today.

Mustapha Kamal, who is also BMLIAHS chairman, said besides the institute, which is the first institution at the hub, other areas that would be focused were the hospitality industry, early childhood education and an orang utan research centre.
