Tan Sri Rozhan Kuntom, father to Astro Chief Executive Officer Datuk Rohana Rozhan, passed away at the Institut Jantung Negara (IJN) on Friday morning.

His remains were taken to his residence in Bukit Damansara, Kuala Lumpur. Funeral prayers will be conducted at the Umar Al Khattab Mosque after Friday prayers and later buried at the Taman Tun cemetery.

The late Tan Sri Rozhan received his early education in Johor, then at the Kuala Kangsar Malay College (MCKK). He later went to the University of Malaya in Singapore before heading to Werton, New Zealand, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States during his service in civil sector.

Born in Muar, he was appointed as the Assistant District Officer in Kluang. He later served with the Penang Chief Minister and held other top posts until 1963. He was also appointed as TTDI Group Chairman in 2000.

Rozhan also served as the director-general of the Public Service Department from August 1, 1985 until January 26, 1987.
