A 16-year-old teenager who was among four passengers killed in a bus-lorry accident along the East-West Highway early Friday had sent a message through WhatsApp to his sister two hours before the tragedy.

In the message, Roshifah Abdul Halim said her brother Muhammad Amir wrote that the bus that he and their parents were travelling had just left Butterworth and expected to arrive in Kuala Terengganu by 4am.

"He said he managed to get a window seat and sat next to mother. At that time I felt relieved and hoped their journey will be smooth," she told reporters when met at her parents' house in Kampung Alma, here.

However, Roshifah said she was shocked to receive a phone call from her father about 1.50am that her mother, Hasiah Osman, 58, and her brother were killed in an accident.

Besides Muhammad Amir and Hasiah, two other people were killed and 26 were injured in the head-on collision at Batu 14.

Jeli Fire and Rescue Department chief Juhari Ahmad said two other people killed were Nor Afiqah Alimi Mohd Ali, 19, from Kampung Mengabang Lekar, Batu Rakit, Terengganu and Mohd Syafiq Azrul Azmi, 25, from Losong, Terengganu.
