Three people were killed when a car rammed into a lorry at KM91.4Km of the North-South Highway, near Batu Pahat, Monday.

Batu Pahat deputy police chief Supt Mat Razali Awang said the dead were the car's passengers while its driver was badly injured.

He said the incident occurred at 4.48pm and the identity of the dead, two men and a woman, and the car driver were still being ascertained.

"It is believed that their BMW went out of control and rammed into the rear of the Mitsubishi Fuso lorry which was parked in the emergency lane with safety cones placed.

"All three victims died on the spot," he said when contacted, adding that the lorry driver was not injured.

The bodies of the victims were sent to the Sultanah Nora Ismail Hospital, Batu Pahat. The injured person was also sent to the same hospital.

Meanwhile, a Fire and Rescue Department spokesman, when contacted, said the badly injured victim was identified as Mohanandas a/l Nadarajan, 42, from Taman Bukit Indah, Johor Baharu and one of the dead was known as Nadarajan a/l Gopal, 71, from Taman Nesa, Skudai.
