Despite True Group’s assurance that it will pay the outstanding salaries owed to True Fitness former staff in Malaysia after the unceremonious closure of its fitness centres, the staff remain mistrustful and skeptical over the ‘too good to be true’ promise.
Former True Fitness Personal Trainer manager, Shahrulhamiri Sharudin said the assurance does not seem to be sincere.
“I don’t think the assurance to pay our salaries is sincere. I say so because the top management did not take the initiative to personally call me or other staff to inform us of this forthcoming payment. They have our contact numbers.
“When the media highlighted our plight, only then they come up with this statement. I feel like they are just trying to cool the situation down a little.
“But, we will keep their statements as proof so that they will walk the talk,” he told Astro AWANI in a WhatsApp application message on Tuesday.
Another ex-employee of the company, David Thoong is also doubtful of the company’s sincerity.
“I'm doubtful of their sincerity because they only responded after we posted our predicaments on social media and made it known. We will patiently wait for them to deliver their promise, but we reserve the rights to go public again if they do not keep their promise.
“We have already lived with their lies for too long,” said Thoong, who is also the former Country Group Exercise manager.
Former True Fitness Credit Control Executive, S. Tina Malini said the company was merely diverting their minds to prevent them from fighting for their rights.
“From closure because of it is no longer ‘financially viable’, to this? While we will definitely wait patiently for our salaries, we will not withhold our plans to fight for our rights,” she said.
Yesterday, it was reported that the Singapore-based parent company of True Fitness Malaysia has resolved the issue of outstanding payments owed to the staff here following the sudden closure of its Malaysia outlets over the weekend.
It was also reported that the salaries and commissions of all the staff will be released on June 19.
True Fitness and True Spa centres in Malaysia have ceased operations since June 10.
