Two Bangladeshi workers sustained serious injuries after being crushed by a falling concrete floor of a six-floor building under construction in Bayan Lepas here, today.

In the incident at about 3pm, both victims who are in their 30's were working on the first floor when a 400-tonne concrete floor collapsed and injured the duo.

State Fire and Rescue deputy director Mohamad Shoki Hamzah said another worker suffered light injuries and all victims were sent to the Penang Hospital for treatment.

He said initial investigations revealed that the floor load structure could not support the weight of the concrete frame causing the floor to collapse.

"Both victims sustained head and back injuries as well as broken legs and hands," he said here today.
