ALOR SETAR: The failure of six Kedah executive councilors (EXCO) members to the weekly State exco meeting Wednesday had upset the Sultan of Kedah and members of the State's Regency Council, said Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Mukhriz Tun Mahathir.

Their refusal to attend the meeting has affected the administration and planning process set by the state government in executing the development programme and activities for Kedah folks.

In a statement Sunday, the embattled Menteri Besar said their actions were proof that they have violated their  statutory duties as civil servants.

Meanwhile, Mukhriz has urged the 14 UMNO divisional leaders and two deputies involved in the press conference held at Grand Alora Hotel on January 20 to apologise to the Sultan of Kedah and chairman of the Kedah Regency Council.

He explained that their actions to hold the press conference to replace the post of Menteri Besar has tarnished the novelty of the Ruler and disrupted the celebration of the Sultan of Kedah’s 88th birthday anniversary earlier this month.

Mukhriz, who was commenting in his capacity as Kedah UMNO Liaison chairman and Menteri Besar, said he received news that the Sultan of Kedah and members of the Kedah Regency Council have been offended by the group’s actions.

What made matters worse was the decision made by the State exco members, who had pledged their honour and loyalty to the Ruler to be part of the ouster bid.
