The myPPP Extraordinary General Meeting on Sunday decided to amend the party's constitution to allow myPPP in Sabah and Sarawak to stand on their own without interference from myPPP in Peninsular Malaysia.
Its president Tan Sri M. Kayveas said among others, the amendments would allow the Sabah and Sarawak to have a vice-president and five representatives each in the party's supreme council and their own executive committees.
"So we are amending our constitution to add one more article for Sabah and Sarawak as regions. Region One for Sarawak, Region Two for Sabah and Region Three for Peninsular Malaysia.
"myPPP did not ask to go there but they (the people of Sabah and Sarawak) invited myPPP to come in, myPPP has long been in Sarawak, about five or six years.
"However, the structure of the constitution is not correct, so we are amending it to make things right correct," he told reporters when met after the meeting at the Putra World Trade Centre here.
Kayveas said the amendments to the party's constitution would be submitted to the Registrar of Societies soon.
He said myPPP in Sabah had just been formed while there were 67 branches in Sarawak.
Meanwhile, Kayveas said myPPP had no issue about the Election Commission's proposed redelineation of electoral boundaries in the peninsula and Sabah as elections was about the power of people to vote.
"It is the people's power to vote, you can draw the boundaries in any way you want, I don't see any excitement. Still it is whether people vote for 'this' or 'that' side," he said.
On another matter, Kayveas said myPPP would not be submitting a protest regarding the Syariah Courts (Criminal Jurisdiction) (Amendment) Bill 2016 that was tabled by PAS at the Dewan Rakyat recently since it only affects Muslims.
"myPPP has got at the moment up to 25 percent of Muslims in our party, we have a religious bureau which has no issue with it, and we are not making any protests on that," he said.
Kayveas also said he was ready to contest in the 14th General Election if given the trust by the Barisan Nasional top leadership.
"If I get the chance, why not? If BN has a seat and BN feels that I should contest, I am the winnable candidate, there is no issue," he said, adding that the myPPP was prepared to face the general election at any time to ensure victory for BN. -- Bernama
