PAS intention to wrest control of Kedah in the upcoming general election (GE) comes as no surprise, said Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah.

He said this sort of statement would normally be issued by PAS leaders during the PAS Annual Assembly which happened to be held in Kedah this year.

"It is not something surprising and I was not upset by it because to me this is normal in the political scene," he told reporters after visiting ''Jom Heboh'' Carnival in the Amanjaya Mall compounds, here, today.

He was commenting on a statement made by Kedah PAS commissioner Dr Fakhruddin Ahmed Sheikh Fakhrurazi who said the party was going to wrest back Kedah from the Barisan Nasional government.

Ahmad Bashah said Barisan Nasional (BN) would continue with its responsibilities as the state government and would work towards maintaining control of the state, this time with a two-thirds majority win.

At the carnival Ahmad Bashah also went through a newsreader audition and visited the ''Bulletin Utama'', ''Bananana'', ''Cerekarama'', ''Tonton'', ''Raudhah'' and ''Inspirasi'' booths.
