National laureate Datuk A. Samad Said confirmed that he will be joining DAP officially tomorrow, reported The Malaysian Insider today.

This was in response to the various speculations rife of him joining the party.

“That is right,” said Samad when contacted.

The national laureate also fondly known as Pak Samad, will provide further information on his stand during a press conference scheduled to be held together with other DAP leaders in Kelantan, tomorrow.

“We will be holding a press conference, and I will answer there,” said Samad.

The report also quoted a statement by DAP national organising secretary, Anthony Loke, who stated that Samad wil alsol join other DAP leaders in a programme sponsored by Gabungan Impian Kelantan (GIK) at Kampung Pasir Tumboh, in Gua Musang, Kelantan, tomorrow.

Among those who involved in the programme are DAP parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang, Kuala Krai MP Dr Mohd Hatta Ramli and for Bar Council president Datuk Ambiga Sreenevasan.

The question of whether the decision was taken voluntarily by Pak Samad, 80, or by the persuasion of DAP will also be answered tomorrow.

Samad had previously made his appearance in the many rallies and protests organized by the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) and non-governmental organizations (NGOs), in addition to leading the Coalition for Clean and Fair Elections (Bersih) in demanding a change in the electoral process.
