Former Johor Darul Takzim (JDT) chief coach Fandi Ahmad resigned as their team manager today.

The former Singapore player and Johor Football Association (PBNJ) parted ways amicably.

PBNJ in a statement here today said the two sides reached an agreement as the association was looking at a different tactical approach to its game.

"The door is always open to Fandi at PBNJ as he is considered a member of the family here. PBNJ is prepared to support him in his future endeavours," said PBNJ.

According to the statement, Fandi was an excellent and dedicated coach and had contributed enormously to the development of football in Johor.

Before this, Fandi lost his post as JDT chief coach and was made team manager instead.

Fandi's role as a coach was taken over by Azmi Mohamed and apparently JDT were eyeing former Valencia and Atletico Madrid coach, Cesar Ferrando Jiminez as manager and chief coach for their Malaysia Cup campaign.

Meanwhile, Fandi in a statement hoped all parties accepted his decision and not speculate on the matter.
"It is a painful but an important decision for my future as a football coach. My family has played a very important role, in arriving at this decision," he said.
