National women's shooter, Nur Suryani Mohd Taibi continued to show her mettle when she won the gold medal in the 50m Rifle three positions at the 37th South East Asian Shooting Championships
(SEASA) at the National Shooting Range in Subang Monday.

The achievement of her fifth goal bodes well for her outing in the SEA Games in Myanmar next month.

In the competition Monday, the 31-year-old shooter recorded 447.4 points to edge her challenger from Vietnam, Nguyen Thi Xuan who scored 444.1 points while the bronze went to Teresa Acuna Amparo of the Philippines with 420.1 points.

Earlier, the shooter from Perak had collected four gold at the championship, in the 10m Air Rifle individual and women team as well as the 50m Rifle Prone individual and women team.

When met by reporters, Nur Suryani said she was extremely happy with her performance in the tournament which is the first international meet she participated after resting for almost a year after giving birth to her first baby.

Nur Suryani who returned to training in July said she would use the SEA Games in Myanmar as the platform to improve her performance at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland next year.

"My mission to Myanmar is not solely for medals but to also improve my performance."

At the 26th SEA Games in Indonesia two years ago, the shooter collected two gold medals, in the 50m Rifle three positions women's team and the 10m Air Rifle individual women.
