To compete with heavy hitters Nike and Adidas during next year's World Cup, Puma has launched a global soccer hub where fans can interact with players such as Cesc Fabregas and Yaya Toure.

Promoted via Facebook and Twitter, the portal -- which invites fans to complete a series of monthly challenges to score prizes -- will also feature footballers Sergio Agüero, Marco Reus, Gianluigi Buffon and Thierry Henry.

Fans, for example, can submit suggestions for match-day gestures or ways players can celebrate goals, with the winning proposals to be performed by one of Puma's football stars. Users can also preview Puma's product launches.

The German company also plans to allow users to share content with one another on the platform next year in hopes of building a community of fans in time for Brazil's World Cup, according to Marketing Week.

In April, Adidas launched a similar portal on Facebook for Argentine soccer star Leo Messi, dubbed the "Leo Messi Facebook Experience." The campaign also marked the launch of the signature Adizero f50 Messi boot. The f50 Premium launched last week, featuring a slightly redesigned shoe along with a suede shoe bag and personalized key chain.
