Terengganu Professional Cycling Team (TSG) has received sponsorship of about RM6 million from 20 companies, including from Thailand and Singapore.

Its CEO, Ahmad Farhan Abdul Wahab said the sponsorship received is more than the RM3 million received from 15 companies last year.

"TSG received more sponsorship this year because we have begun to be recognised globally," he told Bernama here, today.

TSG will hold a ceremony to introduce the sponsors on May 1.

Ahmad Farhan said TSG will send 15 riders to five international cycling competitions in May. They are; Tour d'Azerbaidjan; Tour of Iran; Tour de Banyuwangi Ijen and Tour de Flores (Indonesia) and Tour of Japan.

TSG's riders are undergoing a 10-day intensive training programme in Cameron Highlands from April 17.

Only Dadi Suryadi, the rider from Indonesia is excluded, having opted to train at home.

The intensive training programme is conducted by Adam Szabo, the TSG coach from Slovakia.
