Jean Paul Gaultier's iconic perfume Classique will be 20 this year. To celebrate the event, the brand has designed a collector's edition called Belle en Corset.

The fragrance that is now famous the world over was launched in 1993. The essence was a success but it was the shape of the bottle that stole the show: a curvy feminine form clad in a metal corset. Each season, Jean Paul Gaultier reinterprets this piece by seeking inspiration in his prêt-à-porter and couture collections.

A limited haute couture edition

For this collector's edition, only haute couture would do. The design is directly inspired by the last piece shown at the brand's Spring/Summer 2012 show, in which Gaultier paid tribute to the then recently deceased Amy Winehouse. The designer walked the catwalk with a bride who was made up like the singer, with her hair up in Winehouse's trademark beehive. The model was wearing a bustier corset dress that emphasized her cleavage and her hips and it is this very same corset that served as a model for the Belle en Corset bottle.

The anniversary Classique fragrance has notes of rose, orange blossom, vanilla and amber.

The Limited edition Belle en Corset will cost €95 (100 ml spray). It is available exclusively this month in stores such as Harrods in London and Galeries Lafayette in Paris before a wider release in May.
