Google announced the development of a ‘Save to Drive' button which enables website visitors to save files directly from a website to Google's cloud storage service Drive.

The Save to Drive button is designed to give users of Google Drive a simple means of saving content that interests them for later reference. Nicolas Garnier from Google's Developer Relations, further explained the reasoning behind the Drive in a blog post which stated, "We surf the web for a million different reasons -- for everything from school research projects to time-killing memes. And when we find something relevant for us, whether that be our most recent pay stub or just an adorably awesome pic, we may want to save it for later reference or to share with friends in the future."

Website owners and developers can add the Save to Drive button to their site by pasting the script and HTML tag shown at http://googledevelopers.blogspot.fr/2013/05/an-easier-way-to-save-files-to-google.html into their site; further technical details can be found at: https://developers.google.com/drive/savetodrive.

Since launching, several sites and companies have already added the Save to Drive button to their sites including, Bigstock, Delta Dental, Fotolia, O'Reiliy, Outbox, Ultimate Software and
