Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) is offering a special incentive to all its commercial customers in conjunction with this year’s Merdeka celebration.

The special incentive, known as ‘Sinaran Merdeka 2014’, offers commercial building owners a special rate of 17.8 sen per kilowatt-hour (kWh) for usage above the average electricity consumption over the last three months (May, June and July 2014).

The incentive is valid for a period of two months from August 1 to Sept 30, TNB said in a statement on Monday.

All commercial customers under the categories of B (Low Voltage), C1 (Medium Voltage) and C2 (Medium Voltage Peak/Off-Peak) qualify to apply for this scheme, it added.

“Once their applications are accepted, all they need to do so is to switch the lights as their premises from dusk to dawn to enjoy the benefits,” TNB said.

The utility giant said it strongly encouraged commercial customers occupying the city high-rise buildings, office blocks, commercial buildings and complexes, shopping malls and hotels to take part in the incentive scheme.

"This is in line with the government's call to brighten up the city skyline during the celebration," it said.

For more information and to apply for the special incentive, commercial customers can contact TNB's respective general manager (customer service) at the state offices.
