The Kedah Health Department has confirmed that 12 victims of last night's storm which struck the Kedah PAS Complex in Kota Sarang Semut - the venue of the 63rd PAS Assembly - were discharged today.

Its director, Datuk Dr Norhizan Ismail said as of 5pm today, only a 44-year-old woman was still being treated at the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital (HSB) while waiting to undergo surgery on her right ankle.

In the incident, 13 of the 20 victims aged between 12 and 66 years, were sent to HSB after sustaining head and body injuries when the main tent used to exhibit sales products collapsed.

The remaining seven were treated at the scene of the 30-minute storm which occurred at 7.25pm.

In a statement, Dr Norhizan said some 47 medical and health personnel and 14 ambulances and a Rapid Response Vehicle were mobilised for emergency assistance from 7.50pm to 11.15pm by the fire and rescue department.

Strong winds and rain destroyed the tent which housed sales booths to exhibit products by Haraki Entrepreneurship Club (KU-Haraki).

During the incident, an estimated 3,000 people filled the complex business sites.
