A security guard at a car showroom at the Amanjaya Business Centre, here, faced anxious moments when four robbers armed with knives broke into the premises and fled with three cars early today.

A. Arumugan, 58, said in the 3am incident, he was reading a newspaper outside when a white car stopped in front of the showroom.

"Four men rushed out of the car and one of them then brandished a knife to my neck before ordering me not to make any noise.

"They tied up my hands and feet and put a cloth in my mouth. They dragged me to another spot before smashing the front door glass of the showroom," he told reporters when met at the scene.

He said the robbers then drove away three cars – a Nissan Sylphy, Nissan Almera and Proton Persona – after stealing the keys from the office.

The security guard managed to free himself after the robbers fled the scene and immediately informed the incident to the showroom manager.

Kuala Muda district police chief, ACP Md Zukir Md Isa, when contacted, confirmed receiving a police report from the showroom owner on the incident, with the losses estimated at RM229,000.
