The Taiping Municipal Council is to promote 10 tourism products of the town on 350 television screens at the KL International Airport (KLIA) and klia2 beginning next February.

MPT president Datuk Abdul Rahim Md Ariff said it was one of the efforts to promote tourism in Taiping in conjunction with Visit Perak Year 2017.

The products to be promoted through three-minute video clips were Bukit Larut, Batu Kurau, Cross Street Bazaar, Taiping Heritage Trail, Kuala Sepetang Eco-Learning Centre and Kampung Dew Fireflies, he said.

"The video clips will be screened for three months in a collaboration between MPT and the Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (NCIA) to draw more tourists to Taiping," he said to reporters after chairing the MPT monthly meeting here today.

He said the NCIA had allocated RM200,000 for the programme to promote Taiping as a tourist destination in Perak.

On another matter, Abdul Rahim warned of stern action against any party which put up signboards or billboards which did not use the national language, and said the council would bring down the signboards and billboards.

"We will monitor and enforce the ruling on all premises which put up signboards without observing the by-laws of MPT," he said. - BERNAMA
